Apple agrees 'Pear' is not Apple, after a small change

Last year it came to light that Apple was unhappy with a company as its logo resembled very much to its own. The company — called Prepear — offered healthy recipes and digital grocery lists through a mobile app. The logo, as per Apple, looked like their own and was willing to fight it out legally. However, according to a report by The Verge, Apple and Prepear have reached a settlement.
“Prepear is pleased to announce that it has amicably resolved its trademark issue with Apple,” company co-founder Russ Monson told The Verge. He also added that the company will change its app logo in the coming weeks.
A filing with the US Trademarks and Patents Office (USTPO) also confirms that the matter has been solved. “Applicant wishes to amend its Application to change the drawing of the stylised mark which is the subject of its Application,” reads the filing.
Prepear has modified its logo slightly by changing the shape of the leaf. By doing this much it seems Apple has been satisfied and decided to settle the matter.
Back in August 2020, Prepear had said that it is a “very terrifying experience to be legally attacked by one of the largest companies in the world, even when we have clearly done nothing wrong, and we understand why most companies just give in and change their logos.”
However, back then Prepear said that they “feel a moral obligation to take a stand against Apple’s aggressive legal action against small businesses and fight for the right to keep our logo. We are defending ourselves against Apple not only to keep our logo, but to send a message to big tech companies that bullying small businesses has consequences.”
