After 10 months, Delhi records zero COVID-19 deaths

New Delhi: Delhi recorded zero deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, after a gap of 10 months.

“Today no death has been reported due to Covid-19. People in Delhi have fought a difficult battle,” Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, congratulating Delhiites on the achievement.

The city reported 100 Covid-19 cases in the same period.

According to Delhi government's health bulletin, Delhi also recorded 144 Covid-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

As of February 9, the total coronavirus cases in Delhi stand at 6,36,260 while the recoveries have now mounted to 6,24,326.

Active cases are now at just 1,052 while the overall death toll in the capital city stands at 10,882.

Satyendra Jain, Delhi's health minister congratulated the people of Delhi for taking precautions. "I congratulate the people of Delhi for taking proper precautions and our healthcare workers and frontline workers who have fought this battle tooth and nail," he tweeted.

Niti Aayog member Dr VK Paul lauded the achievement and noted: “It is remarkable that no death has been reported due to Covid-19 in Delhi, in the last 24 hours.”

The government, however, today informed that Covid-19 vaccination was slow in Delhi compared to some other states/UTs in the country.
