Motion of Thanks: LS adjourned for the day

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) The lower house of the Parliament adjourned for the day till 1600 hrs on Wednesday after most of the members listed for the day got a chance to speak.
Speaker Om Birla, at midnight, had extended the session as till that time some members were still left to speak. The House finally adjourned at 0100 hrs.
Speaking in the favour of farm laws, Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary told Lok Sabha that the Modi government has increased the agriculture budget from UPA-era of Rs 22,000 crore to Rs 1.24 lakh crore.
"Over Rs 75,000 crore are transferred directly to farmers under Modi rule," the minister added.
Averring that the government has agreed to primary demands of the farmers, Mr Choudhary expressed discontent over the farmers still protesting against the laws.
"We have already agreed to farmers' primary demands of shifting disputes from SDM courts to civil courts, stubble burning and electricity and yet the protests are not dying down," he said.
The Minister once again reiterated that the laws ensure that farmers can sell their produce at the place of their choice and also gives them the upper hand in the contract with corporates.
