South Africa's official Oscar entry in the International Feature Film category Toorbos did not make the Academy shortlist for nominees.
Ivory Coast's Night of the Kings and Tunisia's, The Man Who Sold His Skin is among the 15 films considered for international feature film Oscar nomination.
On Tuesday The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its shortlist for International Feature Film nominees, along with eight other categories including Documentary Feature and Animated Short Film.
Ivory Coast's, Night of the Kings - a mystical fable told within the walls of the African country's notorious Maca prison - is distributed by Neon, who was also the distributor of reports AFP. Tunisia, on the other hand, has never been nominated before.
They will compete with Mads Mikkelson's comedy, Another Round from Denmark, La Llorona from Guatemala, and I'm No Longer Here from Mexico, who have all bagged nominations at this year's Golden Globes.
Nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards will be announced on Monday, 15 March.
