Five killed, 2 injured in road accident in Pakistan

Islamabad, Feb 10 (UNI) An ambulance collided with a dumper in Pakistan's northwestern tribal district of North Waziristan, leaving at least five people dead and two others injured, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to the media report, the tragedy occurred near the Syedgi area in North Waziristan in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Local police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital.

A rescue official told media that the ambulance was rushing a patient hit by a heart attack from Miranshah city in North Waziristan to the nearby Bannu district.

Medical workers believed the death toll might further rise because the two injured were in critical condition, the report said.

Preliminary investigation has blamed the road accident on reckless driving by the ambulance driver.
