CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday confiscated 41.2 acres of land belonging to the relatives of former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala in Tiruvallur district.
The land belonging to Sasikala’s relatives J Ilavarasi and V N Sudhagaran was confiscated a few days after a similar exercise across Tamil Nadu, including in Chennai, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram districts.
In a press release, Tiruvallur district collector P Ponniah said properties belonging to an agro farms company located in Velakapuram village at Uthukottai taluk in the district have been attached based on the final orders of the Supreme Court in 2017. Sudhagaran and Ilavarasi are partners in the private agro farm, according to the press release.
The district collector announced that land would be the government’s property now. Any income generated from it would go to the government, he added.
