BOE Rising Star Alex Brazier Will Leave Bank This Year

Alex Brazier, the Bank of England’s executive director for financial stability strategy, is stepping down from his roles to take a career break.

Brazier won’t seek another term on the Financial Policy Committee when his current one expires on March 31, the U.K. central bank and regulator said in an email on Wednesday. He’ll leave the bank in September.

Long seen as a rising star at the BOE, Brazier served as the then-Governor Mervyn King’s principal private secretary -- a post that can be a route to more senior roles within the central bank. Current Governor Andrew Bailey was also a private secretary to the governor.

After obtaining economics degrees from Warwick University and Cambridge, Brazier has worked at the BOE for two decades. He now plans to broaden his profession experience, he said in a statement.
