THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has declared dies-non for the government employees on Wednesday as a section of employees have decided to go on a one-day strike.
The government has declared that the day’s salary of those who are keeping off the work on Wednesday will be deducted from the salary for March. The government has also issued regulations in sanctioning leave for employees, in case they choose to do so, on Wednesday.
As per the order issued by principal secretary (general administration) K R Jyothilal, leave will not be granted except in exceptional circumstances. These include a medical emergency for the employee or his immediate relatives which include husband, wife, children, father or mother, examination related matters, maternity-related matters and any other legitimate contingencies. Those who are availing leave for medical purposes should also produce a medical certificate certified by a government doctor.
The state police chief has been asked to ensure security for all those who are reporting for work on Wednesday. The order also says that anyone who is resorting to violence or property destruction will be prosecuted.
The previous time, when the employees had taken part in a similar protest, the government had turned a blind eye towards the strike as it was against the Centre then. But later, the high court had ruled against the government decision to stand by the strike.
