10-year-old girl gang-raped by 2 baigas in Balod

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two baigas (sorcerers) in Dallirajhara region of Balod district on Saturday.The girl had gone out an errand when the accused spotted her alone on streets and then forcibly picked her up on the bike. They then took her to an isolated location to rape her.

When the girl did not return after more than an hour, her parents, along with the villagers, went out searching for her. They heard her whimpers from a dark, isolated location behind the bushes.
Rushing towards the sound, the villagers and parents were shocked to see that two unknown men were holding the girl on either sides and the helpless girl was pleading to leave her. The duo men were immediately taken to task by the villagers who beat them black and blue and decided to hand them over to police.

The villagers said that there were rumours about child-lifters in the village who were targeting teens. Although the duo accused were taken into custody, it was the next day that the girl opened up before her parents and revealed that the men raped her.

The parents then rushed to the police station and informed about the rape incident, following which, an FIR under POCSO Act was lodged against the 50-year-old and 30-year-old accused (names withheld). They are residents of a neighbouring village in Limaudih and were visiting Dallirajhara for some sorcerous work.
In their confession, they told police that when they spotted the girl alone on streets, they approached her on the pretext of asking for an address of someone and then they forcibly picked her up on the bike and took her to a deserted location to rape her.
