THANE: The Shil-Daighar police nabbed a duo who robbed money from a donation box of a temple within 24 hours, with the help of CCTV grabs, around 30 footages were checked from Shil-Daighar to Thane.
The Daighar police nabbed Shareef Shaikh (25), Mohammad Mullah (28) for robbing over Rs 46,000 from the donation box of Kedareshwar temple in Pimpri village, last week.
The accused, who resided in Khargar, had noticed that no one was around the temple during dawn and hence decided to rob the money there. The duo were nabbed last week, a day after the crime and police, recovered Rs 46,670 cash from the donation box, seized the auto-rickshaw that was used in the crime and tools used to break-in the temple.
Also, in another incident, the Daighar police arrested the gang that used to rob office goers, during early morning hours, while they were plying auto-rickshaw.
Over a fortnight ago Yogesh Lohar, resident of Daighar was robbed by an auto-rickshaw driver along with two of his aides who were passengers near Dahisar Mori. The trio assaulted Lohar and robbed his valuables worth Rs 28,000, which included laptop, power bank of mobile and even cash.
The police then investigated the case and got the details of the trio, while Mohammad Hayat Abraham (30) was arrested on Wednesday, his aides Mustaf Pawaskar (37) and Mujamil Shaikh (24) were nabbed on Thursday, all residing in Mumbra. The accused have been booked earlier too for various robberies in and around Thane.
The authorities stated that they recovered the valuables that were robbed – laptop and power bank and also seized auto-rickshaw used in the crime, total valuables worth Rs 65,300.
