CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu industries minister M C Sampath inspected Chennai Metro Rail phase-1 extension line and stations, which are getting finishing touches, ahead of inauguration.
The minister visited Tollgate station, also known as Thangal station, and Wimco Nagar station, and inspected work that has been completed and those that are yet to be completed.
The minister inquired about work under way at the rest of the five stations. He instructed officials to expedite work and get the line ready for commissioning.
CMRL managing director Pradeep Yadav, principal secretary, special initiatives department M A Siddique and director (Projects) Rajeev Narayan Dwivedi and director (systems and operations) Rajesh Chaturvedi and other top officials were present during the inspection.
The 9km line from Washermenpet to Wimco, which has eight stations, will open with seven stations as the station at Thiruvottiyur Theradi is still under construction.
