Srinagar, Feb 10 (UNI) Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Wednesday won chairperson and vice chairperson posts of District Development Council (DDC) in Ganderbal and Pulwama districts.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and vice chairperson PAGD Mehbooba Mufti congratulated DDC members of Ganderbal and Pulwama for electing chairperson and vice chairpersons from PAGD constituents—National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-- in Pulwama and Ganderbal.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafkat Iqbal said that NC candidate Nuzhat Ishfaq was elected chairperson after getting nine votes while Bilal Ahmad Sheikh of PDP vice chairperson after polling eight votes in DDC Ganderbal election held today.
PDP candidate Syed Bari Andrabi was elected chairperson while Mukhtar Ahma Bhand of NC vice chairperson of DDC in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
PDP youth president Waheed ur Rehman Parra, who was also elected to DDC, could not take oath since he was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in terror funding case. However, he was granted bail by NIA court only to be arrested by CIK immediately.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter PDP president Mehbooba said 'Congratulations to DDC members of Pulwama & Ganderbal for showing exemplary character & courage. They stood by PAGD despite unimaginable pressures & threats'.
