South Africa's Lloyd Harris rallied from a set down to advance to the Australian Open second round on Tuesday.
Harris defeated Denmark's Mikael Torpegaard 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in a first round encounter which lasted two hours and 25 minutes.
Harris, the world No 91, fired 21 aces compared to six of his 188th-ranked opponent, who got into the main draw as a "lucky loser" in qualifying.
The 23-year-old South African hit 41 winners, with Torpegaard only managing 21. Harris also lost serve only once and broke through five times on the return.
Harris next plays either 13th seeded Belgian David Goffin or Australian wildcard Alexei Popyrin.
Meanwhile South Africa's other singles participant, Kevin Anderson, plays ninth-seeded Italian Matteo Berrettini later on Tuesday.
