Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Adventure-Tourer Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 11.95 Lakh
Triumph Motorcycles have introduced their all-new Tiger 850 Sport in the Indian market. The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is offered with a price tag of Rs 11.95 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The motorcycle is the brand's new entry-level adventure-tourer offering and will be positioned below the Tiger 900 model.

The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will be a more road-oriented offering in the brand's lineup. The motorcycle features a de-tuned version of the same engine, which powers the Tiger 900. This comes in the form of an 888cc in-line three-cylinder unit producing 85bhp at 8500rpm and 82Nm of torque at 6500rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch as standard.

The engine on the new Tiger 850 also carries forward the same T-plane crank, with a 1-3-2 firing order. This Triumph claims will allow the Tiger 850 Sport to offer superior tractability in low RPMs, making city riding hassle-free.

The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport also features two riding modes: Rain & Road. This further alters the throttle response and traction control settings, to better suit the conditions. The Tiger 850 Sport comes with the option of completely switching off traction control as well.

These settings can be controlled via the switches on the handlebar, along with the 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, which offers a host of other rider information as well.

The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will also feature the same chassis and frame as its larger sibling, the Tiger 900.
This includes a bolt-on aluminium rear sub-frame, which along with the lighter engine, has resulted in a weight reduction of 7kg compared to the previous-generation Tiger 800 XR.
Also, when compared to the Tiger 900GT, the new 850 Sport is lighter by 2kg with a dry weight of 192 kilograms.

Other mechanicals include the suspension and braking setup. The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport features 45mm USD forks at the front (180mm travel)and a mono-shock setup at the rear (170mm travel), both from Marzocchi with manual preload adjustment.

Braking on the adventure-tourer is via Brembo Stylemas at the front, which comes in the form of dual 320mm discs at the front and standard Brembo 255mm disc at the rear; supported by dual-channel ABS.

Triumph Motorcycles also stated that the new Tiger 850 comes with narrow seats, ergonomically optimised footrest position and angle adjustable handlebars. The seats on the Tiger 850 Sport also come with a two-position height adjust mechanism, with 20mm of maximum adjustability.

The Tiger 850 Sport rides on Michelin Anakee tyres with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear rims and 100/90 and 150/70 tyre profiles, respectively. The motorcycle also comes with a 20-litre fuel tank capacity, which with Triumph's 19.23km/l fuel efficiency claim could make light work of long-distance touring.

The new Triumph Tiger 850 also features LED lighting all around. This includes the headlamps with the integrated eye-brow shaped DRLs, taillights and even the indicators.

To help differentiate between the 850 and the 900 model, the new entry-level motorcycle features new body graphics along with a different paint scheme as well. This includes two dual-tone options: Graphite/Diable Red and Graphite/Caspian Blue.

Thoughts On The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Launched In India
The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is the brand's entry-level adventure-tourer offering in the Indian market. The new entry-level adventure-tourer from Triumph Motorcycles will rival the likes of the BMW F 900 XR in the Indian market.
