Timothy Wilks has died. He was 20 years old.

According to a press statement, the YouTuber was shot dead in a parking lot of a trampoline park on Friday, 5 February.

In a fake robbery prank gone awry, Timothy and a friend allegedly approached a group of people with butcher knives. The YouTuber was shot by David Starnes Jr. who claimed he pulled the trigger in self-defence, "unaware" of the prank, reports E! News.

The incident is under investigation, and charges have not been made against David Starnes Jr.

This is not the first time a YouTube prank has gone terribly wrong. According to CNN, last year YouTubers Alan and Alex Stokes were charged with false imprisonment and swatting after pretending to rob a bank, dressed in all black and carrying duffle bags, and carjacking an Uber driver. Police arrived at the scene and ended up holding the driver, who was not in on the fact that he was the getaway driver, at gunpoint.
