PATHANKOT: Targeting Bollywood actor turned politician Sunny Deol who is also BJP’s Lok Sabha MP from Gurdaspur constituency, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha blamed him for allegedly betraying the people of Punjab especially when they needed him most.
Raghav who is also co in charge, Punjab affairs, was here on Tuesday in connection with municipal bodies election said that not only the people especially the farmers of Sunny’s Lok Sabha constituency but from across the state had high hopes from him and wanted him to stand by farmers.
"Nearly 200 farmers have lost their lives during the ongoing farmers agitation which began in biting cold in Delhi but Sunny Deol didn’t utter a single word in support of farmers and if at all he spoke something he only hurled an insult at farmers by praising prime minister Narendra Modi” alleged Raghav while addressing a gathering.
Raghav went on to state that the people of Punjab had always supported the Deol family but when they wanted Deol family most, the latter allegedly turned their back from their voters, supporters, and followers. “ Sunny Deol has attended the Lok Sabha only for three days and had betrayed the people of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency “ he alleged.
Launching a scathing attack at Deol, Raghav alleged that since Sunny lived in Mumbai so his work was being looked after by his personal assistants. “ Did you people vote to bring his personal assistant to power” questioned the AAP leader? He further alleged that Sunny’s priority was acting and not public service
While claiming that people of Punjab had fed up with the Modi government, he alleged that leaders like Sunny Deol didn’t see anything beyond 'Modi Bhakti’.
Explaining to the people of Punjab how AAP defeated BJP thrice in Delhi, Raghav said people of Delhi had reposed their faith in AAP, its leadership, and its policies and have voted them to power thrice similarly, he said people of Punjab had made their mind to bring AAP to power as they had seen the drastic reforms made by AAP government in Delhi in the fields of health, education and other sectors.
