Harsh Vardhan distributes blankets, masks, soaps at AIIMS Vishram Sadan

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has distributed woolen blankets, masks and soaps among the destitute staying at Vishram Sadan in AIIMS, New Delhi.

During the event on Monday night, Dr Vardhan thanked the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) for the initiative and appreciated the IRCS’ active role in reducing the impact of COVID-19.

Lauding IRCS, he said the multidimensional response with a broad range of activities for the ongoing COVID-19 emergency is testimonial of IRCS' capacity as an organization and moreover, the commitment & relentless services by our volunteers.

On Corona challenges, Dr Vardhan highlighted that the vaccine for the prevention of COVID19 has been approved and the Government has already started the largest vaccination drive in the world, Health Ministry said in a statement.

The Minister also stated that, the fact that the vaccine is developed indigenously, 'shows the great capacity our country has and is a big boost to the Prime Minister’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative'.

IRCS has deployed more than 40,000 trained volunteers in more than 500 districts across the country and has contributed immensely in reducing the impact of COVID-19”.

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) The Centre on Tuesday apprised the Supreme Court that it is against granting one-time relaxation on age limit to UPSC civil service aspirants and no extra chance will be given to civil service candidates affected by COVID-19 as it would be discriminatory to other candidates.
