STUDENT EDITION OF M.K. BINODINI DEVI’S CHURACHAND MAHARAJGI IMUNG PUBLISHED IN MEITEI MAYEK

Imasi Publications, the imprint of Imasi: The Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi Foundation, published a special Student Edition of Churachand Maharajgi Imung in Meitei Mayek today.

It was launched by LEIKOL, the women writers’ circle that was founded by M.K. Binodini Devi in 2003, on the occasion of its observance of the writer’s 99th birth anniversary, at Manipur Dramatic Union, Imphal.

The book was presented by Huidrom Anuradha Devi, Trustee, Imasi Foundation, and granddaughter of Maharaja Churachand, to M. Rameshwor, Hon. MLA (Kakching) for release.

Churachand Maharajgi Imung is inducted into the curriculum of Manipur University as of 2021. The special Student Edition features an introductory essay by Professor Nahakpam Aruna of Manipur University, in its English translation by L. Somi Roy called A Princess Remembers: The Making of a Memoir. A bibliography of Binodini, as she signed her works, and four genealogical and historical charts are also included.

The Student Edition of Churachand Maharajgi Imung also launches a series of books to be published by Imasi Foundation for the centenary commemoration, in 2021 and 2022, of the writer’s contribution to the culture of Manipur and of the rest of India. The centenary events will be headed by the Committee for the Commemoration of the MK Binodini Devi Centenary formed upon the orders of the Governor of Manipur.

Churachand Maharajgi Imung Student Edition is available at Readers Bookstore at Manipur University, Books and Coffee in Yumnam Leikai, Ukiyo Bookstore on Sega Road, and for home delivery from @keithelexpress.
