Shah refutes Adhir Ranjan's charge, says 'I didn't sit on Rabindranath Tagore's chair'

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday refuted charge made by Congress Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury that Mr Shah had sat on the chair of poet Rabindranath Tagore during his recent visit to Vishwa Bharati University in West Bengal.

The Union Home Minister in the Lok Sabha said that the allegation levelled by Mr Chowdhury on Monday in the House was wrong.

'I didn't sit on Rabindranath Tagore's chair, ' the Union Home Minister said.

Making a reference to a letter by Vice-chancellor of Shantiniketan, Mr Shah said, 'I have the letter from the vice chancellor of Vishwa Bharati University that says that I did not sit on such chair, I sat on a window seat where people sit to write down their thoughts on visiting the monument.'

The Union Home Minister said that the Congress leader had given wrong information to the House, so it should be removed from the record of the proceedings of the House.
