The Meteorological Department has said that the month of January was the warmest in the last 62 years. The IMD says that the country recorded the minimum temperature in January. South India was particularly hot. It is also interesting to note that the maximum temperature in January was below normal.
IMD reported that South India recorded the lowest temperature in January at 22.33 degrees in 121 years. January's minimum temperature was 22.14 degrees in 1919 and 21.93 degrees in 2020, the second and third-warmest month respectively.
Whereas in 1982, after 14.92 degree Celsius, central India was the hottest with a temperature of 14.82 degree Celsius after 38 years. The department's analysis between 1901 and 2021 showed that in 2021, the nationwide minimum average temperature was 14.78 degrees Celsius. In 1958, the temperature was similar in January.
The month of January this year has been the warmest in 62 years since 1958. The temperature pattern in India shows that in January 2021, the monthly average maximum temperature was two to four degrees Celsius below normal.
