The government has planned disinvestment in three defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs). These are - BEML,
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and
Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI).
Raksha Rajya Mantri Shripad Naik provided this information as a reply to a question asked by K K Ragesh in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
The Defence Ministry in a statement said that policy of disinvestment of minority stake without transfer of management control is being followed for priority sector including defence CPSUs to unlock value, promote public ownership, to meet the minimum public shareholding norms of SEBI and for ensuring a higher degree of accountability. For non-priority sector where competitive markets have come of age, the policy of strategic disinvestment is followed.
At around 2.06 pm, Midhani was trading at Rs188.50 per piece down by 2.71%. While Garden Reach was performing at Rs198.45 per piece lower by 2.3%. However,
BEML traded in the green at Rs991.60 per piece soaring by 1.77% on Sensex.
