Gangtok, 8th February (IPR): Chief Minister Shri. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) laid the foundation stone of Sikkim Theater Trainning Center and did bhumi pujan at Tamla, Assam Linzey, today. The program was organized by the National School of Drama, Sikkim.

In the august presence of Minister of Culture Affairs, Shri. Samdup Lepcha and Minister for Health Shri. M. K. Sharma. The foundation stone laying ceremony had the special presence of madam C. M. Smt. Krishna Kumari, MLA Namchebung Shri Yam Prashad Dulal, Chairman Miss Pooja Sharma, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri S.D.Dhakal, ADC Development Smt. Radha Pradhan, among host of other dignitaries from National School of Drama, New Delhi, retired Secretaries and the local masses of the constituency.

The Chief Minister was pleased to grace the said program as it was a historic event under Namcheybung Constituency. In his speech, he shared his gratefulness to people of constituency for providing the land to construct Sikkim Theater Training Center measuring land of four and a half acres at Tamla. He mentioned that the coming generation will benefit from the progressive, liberal and indigenous policy boosting their knowledge scale, competitive spirit, scientific temper employment opportunities and technological development.

While address the gathering he said that it is a special honour and pleasure to be the part of such project and extended his good wishes and heartiest congratulations to the National School of Drama, Sikkim and also to the people of Sikkim with whom the Sikkim Training Theater Center will enjoy a long history of warmth and development.

He also talked upon the progress made by Sikkim Government in the field of Health and Education and mentioned that State Government has prioritized the health and education sector as long-term development. He announced that the State Government will support the organization during the construction of Sikkim Theater Training Center which has been provided to the National School of Drama free of cost by Government of Sikkim. He stressed that the Government is fully committed for the development of art culture education. He expressed happiness that the project is being created for the development of our children. He stressed that the facility will cater exclusively for the children of Sikkim. He urged the local body to fully involve themselves in the construction process, and apprise the government if any bottleneck arises. He assured that the Government will lend all possible support for the project.

Minister Shri. Lepcha while speaking on the occasion highlighted upon some key points such as how this project of NSDS will be the advantage to our State. This project will cater various opportunities to the students and children of our State to come forward showcasing their hidden talents. Also this will benefit the local genetry in their socio- economic development, he added. And he urged the society to support National School of Drama, Sikkim and National School of Drama, Delhi to make this project successful.

Prof. Suresh Sharma, Director, NSD, Delhi thanked the villagers AMD the Sikkim Government for providing with a land to work on it and to upgrade in the field of art and culture. He informed that there are four such training centers in India, and Sikkim is one of it . He also said that in near future it can be a tourist spot which will showcase the unique tradition and culture of the country and state.

Earlier, a welcome address was delivered by Shri Bipin Kumar, Center Director, NSD Delhi. Where he shared a short journey of his being in Sikkim and how Sikkim Sahitya Parishad has developed so far.

The program also had the audio clip where the audio message was delivered by Shri Paresh Rawal, chairman NSD, Delhi. Due to some unavoidable circumstances he could not visit Sikkim and attend the program .
