Nifty FMCG index top laggards of the day; Britannia, Godrej Consumer, HUL drag

Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Healthcare and Jubilant Foodworks were 2% higher.

Nifty FMCG stocks dragged the indices despite overall bullish sentiment in the market. The Bears caught hold of the sector as heavyweights Britannia, Godrej Consumer and Hindustan Unilever were under selling pressure.

Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Healthcare and Jubilant Foodworks were 2% higher.

At around 3.15 pm, Nifty FMCG was trading at 34,449.30 -down 195.20 points or 0.56%, touching a low of 34,429.05 on Monday.

Britannia shed ~2% after quarterly earnings to trade at Rs3,473.30 per piece. Britannia reported a profit of Rs452.6cr in Q3FY21 against Rs368.9cr in Q3FY20. Revenue rose to Rs3,165.6cr from Rs2,982.7cr yoy.

VBL was 1.63% down. Godrej Consumer shed 1.58% ahead of quarterly results on Monday. HUL lagged 1.47%.

P&G and Jubilant Foodworks continued surge on last week results.
P&G was trading at Rs12,679.90 per piece up Rs323.25 or 2.62% while Jubilant Foodworks was selling at Rs2,808.20 per piece up Rs57.95 or 2.11%. Tata Consumer was also higher nearly 1%.
