The Crime Branch of Goa Police, on Monday, informed that it has busted a prostitution racket in Colva and recued five women victims, and arrested two persons.
The police disclosed the names of alleged accused as Suraj (32) and Santosh (32).
The raid was conducted by the police inspector Laxi Amonkar, and was assisted by constables Satish Gawade, Bhagwan Palyekar and Sankalp Naik and two women home guards attached to Margao town police station namely Suchita Velip and Pramila Velip and NGO member.
Offences have been registered against the alleged accused under Section 370(3) read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code and Section 4,5 &7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,1956. The arrested persons were remanded in five-day police custody by the court. Further investigation is in progress under the
guidance of deputy SP Sunita Sawant and SP Crime Branch, Shobit Saxena.
