HUBBALLI: Post lockdown, with more people beginning their own businesses, authorities are making it easier for such people to obtain trade licences online.
Now, people need to furnish just two documents to get a trade licence. They need to submit the ID proof of the owner of the business and lease documents or consent letter from the owner of the property.
Earlier, people used to struggle to get a trade licence as they werefinding it difficult to collect all the required documents.
The new rules were introduced as perthe recommendations of the Ease of Doing Business to State Business Reform Action Plan under the department for promotion of industry and internal trade.
HDMC commissioner Suresh Itnal said the new rules are already being implemented in HDMC.
“People should upload two documents along with the online application. All zonal assistant commissioners and health inspectors have been informed not to ask for other documents except the two henceforth for issuing fresh trade license or for renewal,” he said.
According to sources in HDMC, the civic body will get additional revenue of Rs 1 crore by implementing the new rule. Currently HDMC gets Rs 1.5 to 1.6 crore as trade license fees every year.
“Simplifying the process will definitely increase HDMC’s revenue. Many people were reluctant to obtain trade licenses due to the documents asked by the authorities,” sources said.
HDMC health officer Dr Sridhar Dandappanavar said, “Earlier we used to ask for tax paid receipts, NOCs from immediate neighbours and other documents. Henceforth, people need to submit only two documents.”
