French infrastructure operator Axione said that its Fibre44 venture has obtained a sustainability-linked loan to fund the fibre roll-out contract announced in mid-2020 to build a public initiative network in the Loire-Atlantique department. The company described the loan as the first in the French telecom sector to be certified by Vigeo Eiris, a specialist in Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) investments. The funding was secured from a group of four banking groups (Caisse d'Epargne Bretagne, Natixis, Societe Generale, and CIC).
