Kolkata, Feb 08(UNI): A whopping Rs 72,000 crore worth projects were inaugurated in the state in a single day for generation of millions of employment, claimed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while inaugurating a bunch of projects across the state from Netaji Indoor Stadium this evening.
On the event 'Khelashree', 16 have been awarded 'Khel Samman', 26 have been awarded 'Banglar Gourab', 7 as 'Krira Guru' and 1 has been awarded 'Jibankriti Samman'.
This year too, the state government will give a total of Rs 1 lakh to each of the 26,000 clubs in the state that will cost 84 crores. The Chief Minister said, "Many people get angry when we help the clubs. But these clubs are by the side of the people in need".
Mamata further added, "In the coming days, 100 individuals across the state will be selected based on games and sports. Whenever they go to participate in an event outside the side all their expenses will be borne by the state government."
Apart from this,the Chief Minister also announced to give an honorary pension of Rs.1000 to the former players.
