HUBBALLI: In a bid to generate revenue, the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has drawn up a plan to auction properties it had previously leased.
The civic agency is planning on auctioning more than 2,000 properties.
Some of these properties are in the possession of government institutions, a few are attached to hospitals. Many people who leased HDMC properties, it has been found, have not been paying rent for those since 2012.
HDMC commissioner Suresh Itnal said that officials of the civic agency had compiled all necessary details on all such properties.
“While the lease period for some of the properties has elapsed, the term is yet to expire in the case of few others. In some cases, those who took HDMC property on lease have rented it to others,” Itnal said.
The information that HDMC personnel are collating about the leased properties include their dimension, tenure of the lease and the revenue the civic agency can earn from their auction.
