Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change, has explained that the recently reported nature reserves would boost up adventure, historic as well as heritage tourism opportunities in the area, generating green job and business opportunities for the local people under 10 Billion Tree Tsunami.
While talking to this agency concerning three recently inaugurated interconnected nature reserves, spreading across Parera, Ara and Dil Jabba, over 18,000 acres in Chakwal district of Punjab. He highlighted the fact that these reserves were the shelters of the most attractive tourist and heritage sites of Tilla Jogian, Nandana Fort, Sikki waterfall, Sikki Lake and most exciting paragliding point. The historic attraction included The Nandana Fort, the tomb of Hazarat Hamm, Dhamrayi and Bhatta Darbars.
Hindu Royal Empire helped in financially constructing the Nandana Fort which had military significance in the Salt Range.
At this site, Hindu Royal empire Jayapala”s son, Anandapala, had constructed a Shiva Temple. This is the place from the Fort’s name was derived from Hindu God’s garden which was conquered by Mahmood Ghaznavi in 11th century.
Moreover, Abu Rayhan Al-Beruni, the great Muslim philosopher, mathematician and historian also measures the Earth’s circumference at this spot. At this place, the remains of the Fort were present, he informed.
The nature reserves were notified under the Prime Minister’s Protected Areas Initiative to make sure protection and sustainable management of the forests are provided in Chakwal, he informed APP mentioning that these protected areas would be joined with the historical and heritage tourism targeted to emphasize the old civilization of thousands of years in the area along with Eco-tourism.
He further explained that in this project, three particular interventions were made to involve local community.
