Congress workers demonstrated on Sunday against the Union Budget 2021-22 and fuel price hike. During this, he showed black flags to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who visited Mumbai. However, the police stopped the protesters from approaching the place where the Finance Minister was supposed to go.
A police official said that as soon as the Union minister reached the Yogi Sabha home in the Dadar area to discuss the Union Budget presented last week, around 400 to 500 activists of the Congress started shouting slogans against him.
Congress workers also raised slogans praising their party leader Rahul Gandhi. The official said that the protesters started gathering outside Dadar railway station in the early hours.
He also raised slogans against the Union Budget and an increase in rail fares along with essential items like petrol, diesel, cooking gas cylinders. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Vijay Patil said the protest was peaceful. No untoward incident has been reported, nor has anyone been detained.
