Reddit Airs Five Second Ad During Super Bowl & Alludes To GameStop Controversy

If you blinked at all during the 2021 Super Bowl, you probably missed Reddit‘s five second commercial.

While the company could only afford a five second ad, they fit a lot in that five seconds.

The text card added that Reddit was “inspired and decided to spend our entire marketing budget on 5 seconds of airtime.”

“One thing we learned from our communities last week is that underdogs can accomplish just about anything when they come together around a common idea,” it continued.

The ad also references one board in particular – the Wall Street Bets one, which helped drive up the price of stocks including GameStop and AMC, and took over headlines over the past few weeks.

“Powerful things happen when people rally around something they really care about,” the company added. “And there’s a place for that. It’s called Reddit.”

The GameStop drama just recently inspired two films, one at Netflix and another at this network.
