Shetty demands resumption of gramsabhas

Kolhapur, Feb 7 (UNI) Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national president and MP Raju Shetty on Sunday demanded permission to organise 'gramsabhas' for passing resolution against newly-enacted agricultural laws.

A delegation led by Mr Shetty met state rural development minister Hasan Mushrif and requested him to lift the ban on 'gramsabhas', imposed due to the COVID pandemic situation in the state last year so that every grampanchyat can assemble and pass a resolution to protest against the three agriculture bills.

Mr Shetty said that following the decline of in the COVID cases, the state the state government has given the permission to hold religious and cultural functions, beside colleges, but not grampanchayats.

He said from almost two-and-half months, lakhs of farmers have been agitating at the borders of Delhi, demanding the withdrawal of the three agriculture bills, but the central government has neglected the farmers as wells as used a heavy hand to deal with them.

In Maharashtra, farmers have been agitating in support of the ongoing farmers stir in Delhi and all grampanchayats wanted to pass resolutions, he stated

Along with Mr Shetty, Girish Finders, Com Namdev Gavde, Balasaheb Patil, Tanaji Magdum, Deepak Hegde, Prabhu Bhoje,Sagar KondekarAvinash Magdum and other SSS office bearers, were present.
