CHENNAI: The return of V K Sasikala, former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's aide, to the city has the politicians and police in attention.
The AIADMK on Saturday approached the director general of police, saying that Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran, her nephew and AMMK leader, had hatched a conspiracy to disturb public peace in Tamil Nadu.
Law minister C Ve Shanmugam alleged that the supporters of the aunt-nephew duo had threatened to unleash an attack through 'human bombs.'
This is the second complaint by AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan against Sasikala. Ministers P Thangamani and Shanmugam were present when the complaint was filed. On Thursday, Madhusudhanan had filed a complaint against the use of the party flag by 'outsiders,' after Sasikala used an AIADMK flag on her car while leaving a Bengaluru hospital.
Shanmugam told reporters that the AIADMK had no objection to Sasikala's return to Chennai from Bengaluru, but Dhinakaran's statement that she would arrive as the general secretary of the AIADMK and use of the party flag were objectionable.
The law minister accused the supporters of Sasikala and Dhinakaran of intimidating public by giving interviews in Bengaluru that they would turn '100 human bombs' and arrive in Tamil Nadu. "Sasikala, Dhinakaran and their supporters have hatched a conspiracy to disturb public peace and tranquility, cause damage to life and property, create enmity between groups and incite riots. The plan is to put the blame on the AIADMK," the law minister alleged.
He said the AIADMK had nothing to do with the conspiracy. "The complaint has been filed with police to take appropriate action against Sasikala and Dhinakaran and their supporters, who are likely to cause riots by using the AIADMK party flag and name," Shanmugam said, justifying the reason for filing a police complaint.
Reiterating that Sasikala was not a member of the party, the law minister said the claim of Sasikala, after completion of her four-year sentence in a disproportionate assets case, that she was general secretary of the party amounted to contempt of court. "The Supreme Court, in a case filed by Sasikala, had recognized the AIADMK led by coordinator O Panneerselvam, joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami and Madhusudhanan as the real AIADMK.," the minister said.
