Jordan Hyde and Tyler Bradbury put on an offensive clinic Saturday afternoon as they led a second-half surge to guide the Utah lacrosse team to a 12-7 victory over future ASUN Conference foe Bellarmine inside Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Louisville.
Hyde finished with four goals, while Bradbury picked up his second hat trick of the year in as many games. The tandem combined for five of the team’s seven scores in the second half, while Zack Johns held the Knights offense at bay finishing with nine saves.
Bellarmine scored in the opening minute, but Utah (1-1) didn’t take long to respond and reeled off three straight goals.
Bellarmine (1-1) tied the match at 6-6 just 39 seconds into the start of the fourth.
But Hyde picked up his third and fourth goals of the afternoon not too long afterward and sandwiched Jack Barron’s score to give Utah the 9-6 lead.
The last Ute to have four goals in a game was Jimmy Perkins at Jacksonville (2/29/20). Hyde finished the day a perfect 4 of 4 from the field.
