I want to make Bengal a leading industrial hub again: Modi

Haldia, Feb 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underlined the importance of his dream project ‘one country, one gas grid.'

Addressing a function at Haldia Petrochem, Mr Modi said "The new project will change the scenario in Haldia. One country, one gas grid is needed. The socio-economic scenario of the eastern part of India including Bengal will change. The importance of Haldia will go up."

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several projects at a function of the Ministry of Petroleum in Haldia. Mr Modi inaugurated BPCL's LPG terminal, Dhobi-Durgapur natural gas line and inaugurated a rail overbridge at Ranichak.

"Many people will benefit from the natural gas line project. Pollution levels will be reduced for natural gas line projects. Lack of gas in eastern India was pushing industrialization back. If new projects are launched, that problem will be solved and employment will increase. We want to make Bengal the leading industrial hub again", added Mr Modi.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan were present on the occasion.
