Indian Express quotes sources saying Sangram Thopte, a well-known cooperator and a three-time Congress MLA from Bhor constituency in Pune district is likely to be chosen as the next Assembly speaker in Maharashtra.
Thopte’s name is doing the rounds following Congress leader Nana Patole’s resignation as the speaker of the Maharashtra assembly.
He hails from a family of co-operators.
