Bengaluru riots case: Bail for former corporator

BENGALURU: The high court on Friday granted bail to former BBMP councillor Rakeeb Zakir, an accused in the east Bengaluru violence case. Allowing the petition, Justice John Michael Cunha said the petitioner should not leave the jurisdiction without prior permission and should cooperate with the ongoing trial.
Zakir, who represented Pulikeshinagar ward, was named an accused in interim chargesheet. The prosecution claimed he was part of the conspiracy that led to the torching of MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy’s house in Kaval Byrasandra area on the night of August 11, 2020.
