CHENNAI: DMK parliamentary party leader T R Baalu wrote a letter to defence minister Rajnath Singh, requesting family pension to S Ezhilarasi, daughter of an ex-serviceman, on compassionate grounds.
After Ezhilarasi’s father V Sahadevan died, her mother S Chandra received pension from the government. The money helped the mother-daughter duo in their daily expenses.
Recently, her mother died in a domestic gas cylinder blast. Following this, Ezhilarasi, who was unemployed and unmarried, found it difficult to meet both ends.
Ezhilarasi attended the people’s gram sabha meeting organised by DMK at Sevur in Tiruvannamalai district on January 29 and submitted a petition seeking financial aid.
On hearing Ezhilarasi’s plea, DMK leader M K Stalin assured that he would take the issue to the notice of concerned authorities to redress her grievance. Following this, the DMK chief asked his party parliamentary leader to take up the issue.
Considering that Ezhilarasi’s father was an ex-serviceman, who served the country in the army, and whose family is in distress due to the death of her mother, the DMK MP requested the union minister in the letter dated February 4 to consider Ezhilarasi’s petition and arrange to sanction pension on compassionate grounds.
The MP also attached all the necessary documents with the letter for reference.
