NFR working to transport tea in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 6 (UNI) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has set a target of adding tea to its freight list in Assam.
Addressing a press conference here today, NFR general manager Anshul Gupta said the NFR is focusing on transporting tea from the state.
Pointing that tea garden areas are well connected with the railway network, he said discussions have been initiated with different stakeholders to make it a reality.
He said, "There are some people with their interests and other reasons involved due to which no tea is being transported through the railway network at the moment. We are in talks to resolve all issues."
"We want to carry tea, not for the volume of business but to help the industry as well," he added.
Tea will be ferried through KISHAN Rails under 'operation Greens - TOP to Total', with 50pc subsidy allowed on transportation charges.
