During the Final Fantasy 14 announcement showcase, producer Naoki Yoshida and translation director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox announced Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker complete with a trailer and a PS5 version. Titled Endwalker, the expansion aims to wrap up Final Fantasy 14's Ascian-centric storyline that was kicked off back in 2013's A Realm Reborn.
With Endwalker, Final Fantasy 14 will also gets its own bespoke release for the PS5. Right now, Final Fantasy 14 is playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility. When Endwalker is out, Final Fantasy 14 will get a dedicated PS5 release with its own modes offering options for resolution and frame rate. An open beta for the PS5 version is on the way as well according to The Mako Reactor.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker Job Classes
Endwalker will bring two new job classes to Final Fantasy 14. Sadly, only one has been detailed so far, with Yoshida and Koji Fox stating that the second class, a melee damage dealer, will be showcased in May. The detailed class is a new healer, dubbed Sage. With the new expansion, the studio also wants to distinguish between direct healing classes and barrier healing classes, and the Sage will be the second barrier healing class in the game. Endwalker will bring Final Fantasy 14's version up to 6.0, and it aims to wrap up the current storylines in the main expansion's release itself. Further patches to the expansion will lay the foundations for a new long-term story that will properly start in 7.0.
Final Fantasy 14 PS5 open beta date
Final Fantasy 14’s PS5 open beta starts on April 13 along with the release of patch 5.5 on current platforms.
Final Fantasy 14 PS5 Endwalker Release Date
Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker is slated for a Fall 2021 release, with it will come the PS5 version of the game as well.
Final Fantasy 14 PS5 resolution and Frame Rate
Square Enix has stated that Final Fantasy 14 on PS5 will have two modes. A 4K mode with 4K resolution and a full HD 2K mode. This is different from the modes available for Final Fantasy 14 on the PS5 right now, which are the same as what you’d get on the PS4 Pro as it is playable on the PS5 via backwards compatibility.
Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker Features
Square Enix revealed the following features for Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker in the livestream today:
- Journey to Thavnair, the imperial capital of Garlemald, and even the Moon.
- New jobs: Sage and more.
- Level cap increase from 80 to 90.
- Expansive new areas, including Garlemald, Thavnair, and the city of Radz-at-Han.
- A new tribe: the Arkasodara.
- New threats, including Anima.
- New high-difficulty raid: pandaemonium.
