During the Final Fantasy 14 Online announcement showcase, producer Naoki Yoshida and translation director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox announced the MMORPG's next expansion. Titled Endwalker, the expansion aims to wrap up Final Fantasy 14's Ascian-centric storyline that was kicked off back in 2013's A Realm Reborn. Check out the cinematic teaser trailer below.
Endwalker will bring two new job classes to Final Fantasy 14 Online. Sadly, only one has been detailed so far, with Yoshida and Koji Fox stating that the second class, a melee damage dealer, will be showcased in May. The detailed class is a new healer, dubbed Sage. With the new expansion, the studio also wants to distinguish between direct healing classes and barrier healing classes, and the Sage will be the second barrier healing class in the game. Check out the Sage showcase below.
Endwalker will bring Final Fantasy 14 Online's version up to 6.0, and it aims to wrap up the current storylines in the main expansion's release itself. Further patches to the expansion will lay the foundations for a new long-term story that will properly start in 7.0. Currently, no further details about Endwalker have been revealed, including the new level caps and new zones that are traditionally a part of new expansion releases.
Final Fantasy 14 Online: Endwalker is slated for a Fall 2021 release, with no concrete release window yet.
