There is good news for people 50 or older in the country. The government is going to introduce the corona vaccine to the elderly next month. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that the third phase of vaccination could begin in any week next month, under which these people will be given the vaccine.
He said, currently the first and second stages of vaccination are going on for three crore health workers and other frontline workers in the country. Of these, 50 lakh people have been given one dose of the Corona vaccine.
Replying to the question raised in the Lok Sabha, the Health Minister said that at present, work on seven types of vaccines is going on in the country, while the emergency use of two vaccines has been allowed.
Three of the other seven vaccines are in Phase III human trials. While two are undergoing the first test. The other two vaccines are currently under testing on animals. In the coming days, when these vaccines are also available to the country, it is natural that their availability will increase in the market and this can have a direct effect on the prices as well.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that India is helping not only its people but also other countries. Corona vaccine is being provided to 22 countries. It also includes countries like UAE, Sri Lanka, Southern Africa. To date, 56 lakh doses have been supplied to 15 countries. The remaining doses are also being sent to these countries.
According to the information, people aged 50 or older will get the vaccine under the corona vaccination. Also, people who are already ill during this period will also be given the corona vaccine.
They may be younger or older. All these people will be selected through the Kovin app. The Kovin app will also be made available for public use in the month of March. Right now this technology is being used by the hospital and district administration.
