Bengaluru news live: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa urged to restart all classes

Karnataka deputy chief minister C N Ashwathnarayan and Adichunchanagiri Math chief pontiff Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswami on Saturday visited Uttar Pradesh's Noida to review the progress of the preparatory stage of work being done with regard to the erection of 108 feet-tall statue of Sri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.

Frontline workers in the state will get vaccine shots from February 8. About 2.7 lakh frontline workers from revenue, urban development, home, rural development and panchayat raj departments have registered on the CoWIN portal so far. The state government plans to complete their first-stage vaccination between February 8 and 10.

Suddaguntepalya police in Bengaluru arrested two businessmen for allegedly attacking a BBMP marshal who had attempted to penalise them for not wearing masks. The incident occurred on Thursday when a posse of eight marshals was fining people for not wearing masks on Bannerghatta Road.

Farmers blocked highways in different parts of Karnataka, to express solidarity with the ryots protesting against the contentious agriculture laws introduced by the Centre, in New Delhi and demanding withdrawal of the legislations.
