Entry, exit gates at 10 metro stations closed in Delhi in view of 'Chakka Jam', reopened

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) The entry and exit gates at 10 Delhi Metro stations, which were earlier closed on Saturday for several hours, in view of the 'chakka jam' held by the farmer unions protesting against the three new farm laws, have been re-opened and normal services have been resumed.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation posted on micro-blogging site Twitter on Saturday evening that the stations closed included Vishwavidyalya (Delhi University), Lal Quila (Red Fort), Janpath, Central Secretariat, Jama Masjid, Khan Market, Nehru Place, ITO and Mandi House.

However, interchange facility was available at all the closed stations.

The Delhi government had asked the DMRC on Friday to stay prepared to shut down few metro stations, in case the situation calls for it.

On January 26, the DMRC had to shut metro stations on Yellow line after the farmer's rally in the National Capital took a violent turn.

The Delhi police has taken strict measures like intensifying security at city's border points to deal with any kind of violent situation emerging out of the 'chakka jam'.
