NAGPUR: Additional CPs Navinchadra Reddy and Dilip Zalke, batchmates of 1995 direct DySP, were the first officers to take the Covidshield jab for Nagpur city police.
Reddy and Zalke were followed by DCP, headquarters, Sandip Pakhale, at police headquarters Zingabai Takli on Saturday.
City polices' vaccination drive kicked off with around 200 cops on the first list. Team from Gorewada Urban primary health centre (UPHC) under Medical officer Dr Akshay Sajjanwar and Zonal medical officer Dr Atik Khan had administered the jabs. In the first hour, there were no reported adverse event following immunization (AEFI) from among the beneficiaries.
Senior inspector Sarthak Nehete of crime branch and Reserve police inspector Vijaysingh Parihar were also among the ones to take jabs in the first hour.
Reddy said there was no feeling of uncomfort after taking the vaccine. "Police personnel were in the forefront during the covid duty amid pandemic. The vaccine is safe and personnel should come forward to take it," he added.
