Pinarayi Vijayan has said there was a slight dip in the Covid-19 cases in the state. In the last one week, there has been a decrease of 5% in the caseload.
The number of testing has been increased considerably. From 33,579 samples on February 1, it has been increased to 91,931 samples on Friday. Though certain relaxations have been brought in the lockdown, it does not mean that we are completely out of danger, said the chief minister.
He said that more cases have been reported among the family members in the state. “This has to be viewed seriously. It has to be learnt that those who are becoming positive are not maintaining proper quarantine inside home,” said the chief minister.
5,610 new cases
The state on Friday reported 5,610 new Covid-19 positive cases. With this, the total cases reported in the state rose to 9,56,421. Among the new cases, 5,131 people have contracted the virus through local transmission and sources of infection in 350 cases were not known.
Among those infected include 28 healthcare professionals and 101 people who have arrived from outside the state were also tested positive.
As many as 6,653 patients have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, 19 deaths occurred in the last few days were confirmed of Covid-19, taking the death toll in the state to 3,832.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases (714) followed by Kozhikode (706), Malappuram (605), Pathanamthitta (521), Thrissur (495), Kottayam (458), Thiruvananthapuram (444), Kollam (391), Alappuzha (301), Kannur (253), Idukki (232), Palakkad (219), Wayanad (163) and Kasaragod (99).
As many as 34 new places were declared as hotspots, while two places were excluded.
On Friday, 15,033 healthcare workers were given the Covid-19 vaccination .
