Cong protests petrol, diesel, essentials price hike

Guwahati, Feb 6 (UNI) The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today staged a statewide protest undertaken by various Blocks under the District Congress Committees against rising prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities.
The protests were staged in front of petrol depots by Congress leaders and workers.
“When UPA was in power despite the fact that the price of international crude was high, Dr Manmohan Singh-led Congress Government ensured that it did not affect the common man and kept petrol diesel prices low and affordable. But during the BJP Government led by PM Modi, although international crude oil price is low, the benefit has not reached the common man,” APCC general secretary Bobbeeta Sharma said, participating in the protest.
She maintained that the rising petrol-diesel prices has led to increased price of essential commodities and in a situation of increased joblessness due to demonetisation and COVID induced situation, people are devastated.
“The BJP Government has proved itself to be anti-poor and anti-people with no effort to control increasing petrol -diesel price and that of essential commodities,” Sharma added.
