Sundowns players visit Madisha family: 'He will forever be in our hearts'

The Mamelodi Sundowns team visited the family of Motjeka Madisha on Thursday to pay their respects following the defender's sudden death last year.

The 25-year-old died in a car accident on 12 December 2020 and will finally be laid to rest on Saturday at the Ga-Madisha village in Zebediela.

Speaking to the media in Polokwane at the family's house, Masandawana defender Musa Lebusa says that he felt as if he had lost "a brother".

"As heartbroken as they are, I can’t say much, I can only imagine what they are going through," said Lebusa.

"We also lost a good player, a brother. It’s not easy. He will forever be in our hearts."

Star striker Kermit Erasmus, who arrived at the club at the start of the season, reveals that Madisha was always joking around in the short time he got to know the player.

"The person he was, he was always humble and always joking around especially when a player gets the ball put through the legs. He’ll laugh even if it is in an actual game," Erasmus said.

"He was a very fun person to be around. In the short time I got to be around him, it was quite interesting, because I was known for blocking a player when we’ll have attacking corners to free him up to try and score. It’s a bond that we created."

Meanwhile, there have been reports that the Brazilians are set to retire Madisha's jersey number (no. 2) in the coming months but no confirmation from that has been given to the public just yet.
