Newly appointed chairman of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Bhagirath Shetye on Friday said the Goa Board will soon have its own mobile app, which will provide easy access to students, teachers and parents to the working of the Board.

“Speaking about the students, they will be able to access syllabus, old question papers and other material through this mobile app, without any hassle,” he added, pointing out that work as regards creation of this mobile app is currently on, and it would be put to use on pilot basis soon.

Shetye is presently posted as deputy director of education (Academic). He will be replacing Goa Board chairman Ramakrishna Samant.

Speaking further, the incoming Goa Board chairman said that online activities would henceforth be one of the important aspects of the works carried out by the Goa Board.

“As regards the online activities, we will study how educational boards in other states have adopted the same and then introduce them here,” Shetye informed, noting that Goa Board has already made many of its activities online such as filling forms for its exams, payment of exam fees and so on.

He said Goa Board made maximum use of the online mode during the corona pandemic, which, in fact, was very useful for the students under the migrant population, as also prevented crowds at the Goa Board office. Shetye said the Goa Board has already de-centralised many of its activities, including distribution of the examination certificates and mark sheets at the school level.

Finally, the incoming Goa Board chairman said

construction of the new Goa Board building is in progress and would be completed according to the schedule. This building has been designed to include many new features, which are expected to provide better security and storage for the confidential SSC and HSSC exam work.

Shetye, in the past was the secretary of Goa Board before his transfer as deputy director of education.
