Central team begins tour of Kerala

The two-member central team met Thiruvananthapuram district health administration officials on Thursday
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-member expert team from the Centre deputed to review the Covid-19 situation in Kerala has started a tour of the state.
The team that reached the state capital on Wednesday visited containment zones and healthcare centres in the district on Thursday and left for Ernakulam.
The team comprising Dr Ruchi Jain, deputy director of the regional centre of the ministry of health and family welfare and Dr K Raveendran, Professor at Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi also had a discussion with the district health administration. District Collector Navjot Khosa and district medical officer Dr K S Shinu took part in the discussion along with other health officials.
The team will also visit Kottayam and Kozhikode districts in the coming days. The team is also expected to meet health minister K K Shailaja in Kozhikode.
The Centre had decided to send another high-level delegation as Kerala is reportedly finding it hard to bring down the caseload of Covid-19. As per the report of the union health ministry, 70% of the caseload reported in the country is from Kerala and Maharashtra.
This is the second expert team from the Centre to visit the state in the space of a month. On January 8, a two-member expert team had come to the state.
The Centre is learnt to have decided to intervene in the public health interventions for Covid-19 management in the state. The Central team will collaborate with the state health authorities in instituting public health measures for Covid-19 management.
